Modern Player for Android TV is built with the open source components below. Each keeps its own licence and copyright. The app itself is not open source; these licences apply to these components only.
FFmpeg — LGPL 2.1 or later
Used for one thing only: decoding MPEG audio (layer II and III) that the
television has no decoder for. Built from FFmpeg n6.0.1 with no GPL and no
non-free parts, as separate shared libraries (libavcodec.so,
libavutil.so, libswresample.so).
- Complete corresponding source of what the app ships — FFmpeg at the exact
commit, the Media3 extension, our build script and settings — as one package per
shipped build, named
modernplayer-ffmpeg-n6.0.1-media3-1.3.1-recipe-<hash>-source.tar.xz(with its.sha256; split into.part-*files when large — join them withcat). The list of packages: oss/SOURCES.txt. The recipe hash of the libraries in your copy is in the app's Settings → About → Open source licences and inPACKAGE.okof the build. - Licence text: GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1
- Replacing the libraries: build FFmpeg with the same settings (see
build/build.shin the package), put yourlibavcodec.so,libavutil.soorlibswresample.soin the app'slib/<abi>/folder, sign the APK with your own key and install it. The app does not check or refuse modified copies of these libraries. - FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard. ffmpeg.org
libVLC for Android — LGPL 2.1 or later
The second playback engine, version 3.6.0
(org.videolan.android:libvlc-all), unmodified. Copyright VideoLAN and

It is a separate replaceable library in the app, under the same terms as FFmpeg above.
